RenewPasco Remembers Those in Suffering from the Consequences from the Disease of Addiction

Click To View Event Photo GalleryOn Tuesday, October 22, 2013, RenewPasco led the 4th Annual Narcotics Overdose Prevention & Education Candlelight Vigil. The event hosted 100 attendees in remembrance and recognition of the thousands in Pasco County who are suffering from substance abuse.

The Narcotics Overdose Prevention & Education (NOPE) Task Force is a Florida non-profit organization that was formed to combat the illegal use of prescription drugs and narcotics, as well as other abused substances. NOPE Task Force is comprised of community leaders and concerned families working to save lives. The mission of the RenewPasco NOPE event is to diminish the frequency and impact of overdose death through community education, family support and purposeful advocacy by proving hope.

The evening began with master of ceremonies Corporal Alan T. Wilkett of the Pasco Sheriff’s Office. Alan is a RenewPasco board member and pastor of Lifes’ Harbor Church in Dade City.

The guests were welcomed by Brian Brown, LifePoint Church’s New Port Richey campus pastor and RenewPasco board member.

Judge Shawn Crane of the Sixth Judicial Circuit conveyed his personal observations of those he has sentenced and helped overcome addictions.

Marcus Carter from Calvary Chapel Worship Center shared his passionate, personal testimony about being healed from an illicit lifestyle

Kelly Mothershead shared her experience as a mother who lost her son to drug overdose.

The song Amazing Grace playing during a candlelit vigil as the attendees reflected on those lost to addiction.

Senior Pastor Brian Walls of Cornerstone Community Church led the closing prayer and challenge to seek and offer hope from addictions.
